As some of
you know, I started “Operation – Off my Duff” this year, and I had been
knocking around the idea of training for a 5 or 10k as a goal for several
reasons, i.e. weight loss, general health, helping my daughter with a karate
black belt requirement, community involvement, ect… Well after yesterday’s tragedy, my first
thought, and my daughter’s, was well I guess I need to find something new. After listening to first hand accounts from
bystanders and first responders, I now will not live in fear, and am going to
find a 5 or 10k before the end of the year and start training for it to show
support for those injured at what should’ve been a feel good event, and to show
whom ever did it, that as an American, I will not live in fear.

I plan on
using either the C25K (Couch to 5k) or the C210K (Couch to 10K) apps available
for free in the app stores to assist me in this goal. Though if anyone is willing to join me in
this challenge, I found when I was in the Navy, that having at least two
partners helps keep the motivation level high, my daughter has signed on, of
course since one of my goals is to help her, but the more the merrier. Even if you cannot team up with me literally,
if you could also accept the challenge and post your progress and encouragement
it would be awesome!
