The other night on the way home from work I stopped at a QT to get gas. It was a mad house, but I needed gas. I pulled in line behind someone who appeared to be close to finishing. He left shortly there after. I pulled up to the pump. Got out. Opened my gas tank. I then followed the instructions on the pump. Insert card or pre-pay inside. I swiped my card, and was instructed to start pumping. As I started to put the hose in my tank. Some complete buffoon pulls up behind me and states, “Hey I just pre-paid $25 for this pump. Get away from my pump!”
I then informed him that I thought he was crazy.
He then informs me that he thinks that I am number 1, and whips his jacked-up SUV around barely missing my car and pulls up to some one else and starts the game again. That failed, surprise surprise. I guess he either fooled someone or he gave up on the ploy and got inline, because when I left the station he was finally pulling into a pump.
I could not restrain myself and had to say something as I pulled off. I informed him that if he was a little more patient he would have started pumping 5 minutes ago if he had just waited in line behind me. I had checked my tire pressure before pulling out.
Sometimes the stupidity of some people still amazes me, I know I should know better, but I still get surprised time to time. I do not know what surprised me the most. The plan, the fact that he thought it would work, or the fact that I looks like it did.
